running injuries

I recently purchased a magazine from Barnes and Noble called “Runners” and in the magazine there is a article called “The Big 7 Body Break Downs” which explains the 7 leading running injuries. The number one leading injury in running is called “runners knee” which I can defiantly say I suffer from. The real name for it is Pattelofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) it’s when the runner experiences irritation of the cartilage on the underside of the patella (knee cap). About forty percent of runners suffer from knee injuries and 13% of runners suffered from knee injuries in the last year according to a runnersworld.com poll. I know from experience that this is very painful and with each stride it feels like someone is hitting you in the knee with a baseball bat. The weird thing is no matter how expensive of running shoe I have on I feel like it makes it worse. The article states that running uphill puts less pressure on your knee so while training chose routes with inclines, but those are also really hard and no one wants to run hills all day. It’s not an injury that keeps a runner from continuing to train they just have to take more breaks and run shorter runs. If you are feeling pain all day while just walking you should see a doctor because you need your knees and pushing it can really result in bad injury. As far as the rest of the 6 injuries they include Achilles Tendinitis, Hamstring issues, Plantar Fasciitis, Shin splints, Lliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS), and Stress Fractures.

finger licking

I chose the commercial about Doritos because I laughed a lot when I first saw it. Now that I look back and watch it’s really not that funny to me, but I do think that Doritos commercials have the best sense of humor. I know there are so many Doritos ads but I chose the one called “Finger Licking” because it’s half gross and half intelligent. I believe the audience is everyone who loves Doritos and can’t get enough of them. The whole commercial is basically selling the idea that the chips are so good it takes you licking every crumb and bit of cheese off your hands and even someone else’s. I personally love Doritos so I understand why the guy in the video is licking some other guys finger and then ripping off some other guys pants to get the last of it. I mean I would never go to that extreme, but I understand why they would choose to do something like that to get there point across to the viewers. I would personally love to meet the director of these commercials because I am sure he or she has some wicked personality I would love to surround myself with. I think that directors think the more out there and off the chart there ad is the more chance they have that people are going to remember them and the product. I mean if I were a director I would totally be selling this crazy product and go to extremes to have sweet advertisement.

Smoking go away

I have been around smoking all my life and every time I am around someone who lights up and I smell the smoke it’s almost instantly that I have memories about people in my life who smoke. For most of my life I my parents have smoked and for most of my life it has saddened me that it may take their life some day. However I think that people smoke because of stress, curiosity, or just plain boredom. I am guilty of trying it out of curiosity and I am also guilty of hating it. Some people say you can get addicted after the first one and I am pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to get addicted after thirty. My father recently quit smoking, but then got addicted to cigars. He did read a book though this past month and has quit cigars as well. I think it takes a lot to give up an addiction that has been a part of your life for the past thirty years. It’s almost like the person will have to find something else to do to fill the time or start saving money for some exotic vacation they have wanted to go on. My mother on the other hand and quit and started more than I can count. I am actually worried about her these days. She gets bronchitis a lot and smokes her way through it. I wish it was something that she could just stop for her health sake, but it seems to have a hold on her. It breaks my heart that people die from cigarettes and that people pay for their death in a sense. I realize everyone is different and smoking doesn’t make anyone a bad person, but I can only hope that eventually people will never start.
